I Want to Apply for a New Special Order Shipping License and
a Liquor Enforcement Tax Certificate

A Special Order Shipping License Will:

  • Allow out-of-state wineries to make direct shipments of wine to consumers in Kansas.
  • Allow Kansas Farm Wineries to make direct shipments of domestic wine they have manufactured to consumers within Kansas.
  • Allow Kansas Wine Manufacturers, who hold a valid Federal Basic Wine Manufacturing Permit, to make direct shipments of wine they have manufactured to consumers within Kansas.

Introduction:

If you are applying for a Special Order Shipping license then you must also obtain a Liquor Enforcement Tax Certificate. Please submit your Special Order Shipping License Application and your Business Tax Application together to expedite the licensing and registration process.

Applying for a Special Order Shipping License:

Complete and submit your application with the required information listed below.

When you apply for a new liquor license or renew your existing license, it will be for a two year license term and it must be renewed bi-annually. You will have the option to either:

  • pay the license fee and the registration fee in full or
  • pay half of the license fee plus the registration fee with your application and pay the remaining half of the license fee plus a 10 percent surcharge within one year from the date your license was issued. Note: If you do not pay your remaining license fee and the 10 percent surcharge when it is due, your license will automatically be cancelled.

Once the Special Order Shipping License has been approved:

  • Your license is mailed to the mailing address you provided on your application;
  • Your license number and company information is posted to the ABC Active Liquor Licensee database

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the ABC Marketing Unit at 785-296-7015 or ABC.Marketing.Unit@kdor.ks.gov.
