Are You Under 21, With Questions About Renewing Your Kansas Driver's License?
Look at the expiration date on you current driver license.
Does it expire on your 21st birthday? If so, you need to renew your license on your birthday. You must visit a driver license office (or county treasurer that does driver license work) on your actual birthday. See more information here: http://www.ksrevenue.org/under21.htm.
If you are outside the state of Kansas and have an address outside the state, you may request an extension of your license by following the instructions here: http://www.ksrevenue.org/dmvoutofstate.htm.
If your license doesn't expire on your 21st birthday, you don't need to do anything. You will keep the license you currently have until the expiration date that is printed on your license. If you want to change your license from a "vertical" format to a "horizontal" format on or after your 21st birthday, you may do so by visiting any driver license office.
If you are in the state of Kansas and your license expires on a day that no driver license offices are open (Saturday, Sunday, Monday or a holiday), you may obtain a 15 day permit that will extend your current license until a license office is open. This permit can be obtained at any driver license office or county treasurer office that offers driver license service. If you renew your license before the permit expires, you will not be charged a penalty.
Examples:
