(Topeka) Kansas Secretary of Revenue, Joan Wagnon, reminds Kansans’ to file their state tax return electronically. “If you are eager to get your refund, you should plan to file your return electronically,” advised Wagnon. “If you file electronically and elect to have direct deposit, you can get your refund into your bank account in as little as 7 days,” said Wagnon.
If you mail your return, it will take at least 8 weeks before you will receive your refund. Wagnon explained it takes longer to process a paper return than it does to process an electronically filed return. Additionally, you’re also less likely to make a mistake when you e-file.
There are two convenient ways to file your Kansas return electronically. WebFile is a secure online method for filing your Kansas Individual Income tax return. If you have an overpayment, your refund can be deposited directly into your checking or savings account.
WebFile automatically makes calculations when you enter financial data, submits the return to the Department of Revenue and provides a confirmation number to verify the return was filed. WebFile is located at www.webtax.org.
Another method to file your return electronically to the IRS and KDOR is using an authorized IRS e-File provider. KDOR has listed approved software developers and their products for e-filing Kansas Individual Income tax returns on their website at www.webtax.org.
