Public Utility Forms

Ad Valorem property forms (the rendition) are sent via electronic mail to the contact on file for the utility companies known to be operating in Kansas on or before Feb. 1, of each year.

The rendition forms for public utilities are unique. They differ with respect to industry, company size, and degree of regulation as well as by regulatory oversight agency. Consequently, acquiring the set of forms which is specific to the company is essential for a proper filing. For that reason they are not available for download but must be requested from the Utility Section supervisor or the appropriate industry staff appraiser.

Forms may be requested by email, fax, or mail. Contact the Supervisor of the PVD Public Utility Section for information on electronic submissions.

Forms are required to be filed on or before March 20, of each year. For good cause shown the director may grant one or more extensions in time, not to exceed 30 days in aggregate, in which to make and file the return. Such request for extension of time must be in writing and shall state just and adequate reasons on which the request may be granted. The request must be received by the director on or prior to the due date of the return. Extensions and penalties are covered in K.S.A. 79-5a09, K.S.A. 79-5a14 and K.S.A. 79-5a15.
