ATTENTION: Please be advised that the 2009 “scannable” Kansas tax forms are NOT available to download from our web site. Scannable forms contain special ink colors and strategically-aligned registration marks that allow for automated processing. Forms that are downloaded and printed by you do not contain those specifications and require manual processing – which is time-consuming and costly. With the cuts made to our budget, we are not able to hire the additional staff needed to process the downloaded forms.

We want to provide the best service possible with the funding made available to us, but to do so will require some help on your part. Your return can be processed quickly if you file electronically. Filing electronically is easy, safe and FREE if you use WebFile (a fill-in type format); plus income tax refunds on electronically filed returns take as little as 5 days! Furthermore, it saves the state a considerable amount of money in processing costs. Visit our electronic services’ web site at www.webtax.org to get started.

If you plan to file electronically but would like a paper form and instructions to start with, please consider using the sample form(s) contained in the instruction booklets on our web site. This will reduce costs for us to provide you forms that will not be filed. For sample forms and instructions for the K-40 go here: http://www.ksrevenue.org/pdf/forms/ip09.pdf and for K-40H and K-40PT forms and instructions follow this lnk: http://www.ksrevenue.org/pdf/forms/k-40hbook09.pdf.

If you choose to use paper to file your Kansas return, you may obtain a KDOR-printed scannable form by emailing us at forms@kdor.state.ks.us or by calling our voice mail forms request line at 785-296-4937. Please allow 2 weeks for delivery. If your paper form is complete and accurate when mailed, allow 12 to 16 weeks for processing
